Calcasieu Parish, LA (February 22, 2026) – A 52-year-old Lake Charles man died Saturday evening after a two-vehicle crash in Calcasieu Parish. The collision occurred around 7 p.m. on February 21 along Gulf Hwy near Eddie Hebert Rd.
Authorities said Carson McCain was riding his motorcycle north on Gulf Hwy when he slowed down and attempted to turn left into a private driveway. As he was making the turn, a car traveling behind him struck the motorcycle for reasons that remain under investigation.
McCain was thrown from the motorcycle during the impact. Officials said he was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle, identified as 35-year-old Catharine Carlin of DeRidder, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Standard toxicology samples were collected from both drivers for analysis.
