Baton Rouge, LA (March 22, 2026) – A Duson police officer was injured in a crash on Tuesday, March 17, while traveling along Interstate 10 East near mile marker 153 in Baton Rouge. The incident occurred as the officer was driving toward the city.
According to reports, a passenger identified as 42-year-old John Cuevas of Mississippi was seated in the front seat at the time. Authorities said the passenger allegedly grabbed the steering wheel, leading to a loss of control. The vehicle then struck the right side and crashed into a concrete wall near the Mississippi River bridge.
The officer, identified as Sergeant Calvin Francis, was taken to a local hospital in Baton Rouge and is reported to be in stable condition. The passenger now faces multiple charges in connection with the incident.
