Baton Rouge, LA (March 2, 2026) – A motorcycle crash Saturday afternoon in Baton Rouge claimed the life of a Gonzales man after a collision with another vehicle on US 61.
The crash occurred around 2:42 p.m., just south of Jefferson Highway. Reports indicate a motorcycle traveling southbound in the right lane of US 61 was following a 2021 Kia Soul before accelerating and striking the vehicle’s left rear.
The motorcyclist, identified as 43-year-old Samuel Wright of Gonzales, was thrown from the motorcycle during the crash. He suffered severe injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment, where he later died.
The driver and passenger in the Kia Soul suffered minor injuries in the collision. No additional details about their conditions have been released. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
