New Orleans, LA (January 19, 2026) – A high-speed multi-vehicle accident on Canal St early January 18 left a 43-year-old woman with severe injuries and prompted a trauma activation response from EMS crews.
The woman, identified as the restrained driver of one of the involved vehicles, reportedly struck multiple cars while traveling at a high rate of speed. Paramedics on scene confirmed the vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage. The driver suffered a serious open fracture to her lower leg, with the tibia bone pressing visibly against the skin. She was stabilized and placed on a second dose of ketamine infusion en route to the hospital.
Responders noted her vital signs were within trauma care thresholds, with a heart rate of 72, blood pressure at 156/100, and a respiratory rate of 21. Although she was confused, her level of consciousness remained intact with a Glasgow Coma Score between 13 and 14.
Traffic along Canal St was affected as emergency units navigated the area to assist. The crash remains under investigation by local authorities.
We extend our thoughts to the injured woman and hope for a successful and complete recovery as she receives specialized care.
